We went to Achiote for our last meal in Quito before heading to the airport and it was amazing! The atmosphere is very nice and you can tell how much the family that owns the restaurant cares about their food. The food felt authentic and very fresh. The sangria was delicious with lots of fresh fruit. My wife had the sirloin and I had the lamb stew. Both dishes were plated beautifully and their use of sous vide is really smart because both were really tender. We also had a dessert trio and the chocolate cake was really good. The chef Andres shared some of his family’s history and even showed us the kitchen. We definitely recommend this spot for authentic, delicious Ecuadorian food!

Too good for words Wonderful is the only way to describe it. We had shrimp ceviche and an empanada made of plantain filled with veggies and shrimp. Both were just too good to describe. Our mains were the lamb stew. Nicely citrus flavored gravy. The chef told us they use a base of passion fruit. Served with beautifully prepared quinoa and a fresh salad of avocado mango and pickles. And a potato soup full of avocado in a creamy potato and cheesy soup. We were too full for dessert. While we are here for a week we will try and return. The Ecuadorian food experience is well worth it.

Amazing food, drinks, customer service and atmosphere The food was fantastic and so were the drinks and service. The atmosphere was perfect for a night out with friends. It’s a family run business. One of the owners (the son) came out from the kitchen to check and see that we were happy with our meals and to welcome us. The father is the bartender and he made sure we were happy with our drinks. It always makes me feel good to support family businesses, especially when the quality of the product and customer service is a step above other places.

Excellent Ecuadorian restaurant, great service So glad we decided to eat here our first day in Quito. We did because it had good reviews and we wanted to eat Ecuadorian food. We were greeted very nicely, dishes were explained to us and we ordered Empanada appetizers, coconut shrimp and a pork dish. Each dish came with authentic sides and everything was excellent. We told them we don't like cilantro and they were so diligent to keep it from us.The service was outstanding and prompt and nice. After we ate the owner came to speak with us and thanked us for dining there. He explained that the house belonged to his grandmother and had been renovated and we were in what was the backyard. It was so nice to hear this history and made the meal even more enjoyable.It was quiet when we ate tonight and it may be because it was early but I hope folk visiting Quito will try Achiote and enjoy it as much as we did.

Beautiful family run restaurant… great food! We dined at this restaurant for dinner over the carnival weekend. The staff were amazing … including the chef’s young daughter who is the sweetest little girl ever. She is involved in all aspects or customer service. Adorable ! The food and drinks were amazinggg and the ambience is cozy and welcoming. Loved the tree in the middle of the restaurant. Would highly recommend this restaurant when visiting Quito. There is also great wifi. Overall one of our best experiences in dining in Quito!
